What is a good SRL camera to buy?

I was wondering if you knew a good SRL camera to get. Preferably with 11-12 MP and at least 15X zoom. Can it also be under $400-500 please. It will be my first SRL camera too so nothing really complex, right now I am looking at the ///Canon PowerShot SX20IS 12.1MP Digital Camera with 20x Wide Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and 2.5-inch Articulating LCD/// is this a good camera or no?
