Why do people scream when......?

they see a suicide? i saw an old video where a Senator called a press conference and afterward,he took out a pistol and fatally shot himself in the mouth. just as he shot himself,a woman reporter let out a huge scream and the other reporters were all shouting profanities and panicking. what i want to know is,why did they have such a reaction? this person was not a relative of theirs and he decided to take his own life. i can understand if they witnessed a murder,but he chose to die and yet they screamed? why do people react that way?? thanks!
